Action – the amount bet during any game

Advantage - the ratio or odds of the casino winning against the player

Attendants Button – a button pressed to request assistance during slot play

Bankroll – the amount of money the player has to use in the slot

Bet One – in online slots, this depicts that the player wants to bet a single credit for a single reel spin

Bonus Feature – involves the potential to add more money to their win, and usually activated by a specific combination

Cage – where the cashier provides more chips or redeems the winnings

Carousel – a group of slot machines

Cashout Button – used in online casinos to ask for money to be sent to bankroll

Coin Size – the size of the wager for each spin

Coin Slot – where the coins are placed to wager a bet

Credit amount – indicates the amount of reel spins the player has remaining

Credit Button – an option that allows winnings to be turned into credits for further spins

Five Reel Slots – online slots with five reels of symbols on which to get a winning combination

Hit – a win on a slot machine

Hopper – the section in a land based slot machine where the coins are stored

Jackpot – the biggest possible payout for each slot machine

Linked machines – another name for progressive slots

Maximum Bet – to bet the largest possible wager allowed on a single spin

Minimum Bet – to bet the minimum amount that can be staked on a single spin

Multi-line Slot – a slot with more than one payout line

Overflow – the excess coins from the slot that are collected by the casino as profit

Pay Cycle – a term referring to a strategic belief that the slot will pay in relation to the amount of coins put into it

Pay for play – slot machines which enable multiple coins, with any payout in accordance with the amount put in

Progressive Jackpot – a bonus amount that increases during play, in relation to the amount played, with the amount shown won when the required combination is hit

Progressive Slots – a group of slots that share a progressive jackpot which begins from a low jackpot amount and grows in accordance with the amount of play

Pay Line – the winning line combinations shown on each slot machine

Payout – the money won buy the bettor

Payout Percentage – the amount paid out in relation to the amount played, denoted in percentage format

Payout Schedule – another name for the payout table

Pay Table – a table detailing the winning combinations and the attached payout

Random Number Generator – the software used by online casinos which generates the symbols on the slots at random to ensure fair gaming

Reels – the wheels that spin inside the machine and show the combinations; these are virtual online

Static Jackpot – a set jackpot amount that is not affected by variables

Symbols – the pictures or graphics on the reel

Three reel Slots – online slots that have three reels of symbols which determine the winning combination

Tilt – a common slang term for a malfunction in the slot machine

Wager – another name for a bet

Winning Combination – a series of symbols that match the specified winning symbols in the correct positions

Wild – a symbol that can be used to substitute any other symbol
